Our client is a leading and fast-emerging force in the IT consulting and services space. Their focus has been on delivering design-led solutions to customers. The services offered by them are digital infrastructure, big data and analytics, product engineering, customer engagement, advanced technology group and digital experience across different industries.
Like any other organisation creating and storing information, this fast growing IT Services company was faced with typical data management and analytics challenges. The data was trapped in spreadsheets shared over emails and transactional systems, making it difficult to collate, clean and create business reports. With the increasing business complexity, introduced through growing clientele base and employee headcount, it was time to take a step back and have a relook over the underlying processes.
Reporting was delayed as it was highly labour intensive, key information was scattered due to lacking data governance practices
Business users were reconciling data that was fragment, duplicate or worst inaccurate, leading to lost focus on strategies
Data integration frameworks were lacking and there was no separate space created for teams to explore data and uncover insights
No standard set of metrics and reports were defined for monthly/quarterly reporting, making it difficult to use data for decision making
Our team of IT/ITeS industry experts and architects, had detailed discussions with the business users to understand the pain points and the 'As-is' state. We followed our proven discovery workshops to succinctly capture the underlying problems and client's expectations. After multiple brainstorming sessions, proof-of-concepts (POCs) and probable architecture envisioning, our data analytics team presented the plan-of-action, defined the milestones and an analytics roadmap in agreement with the client's management team. The 'Current-state' of the client's data analytics system is characterised by:
The historical data is cleaned, loaded into the enterprise data warehouse and data lake with defined formatting and robust data management practices
Automated Flow of data from multiple source systems into the centralised data warehouse with governance mechanisms in place
Standard set of KPIs are defined which are reviewed and approved by business teams
The tables and data transformation logic of the business is documented, reviewed and signed off by the business teams
End-to-end integration of the different source systems is completed into a single data Insights solution
Self-service business intelligence (BI) is promoted through the platform, making it easier for the business users to drive actionable insights
Separate environments with restricted role-based access is granted to teams to perform exploratory analysis on the data and create custom-reports
Any sensitive information such as salary is masked from general view with only limited personnel access
