Cloud computing refers to the on-demand delivery of IT resources over the Internet with pay-as-you-go pricing. Instead of purchasing, owning, and maintaining physical servers and data centers, you can use technology services, such as storage, computing power, and databases, on an as-needed basis from a cloud provider like Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, AWS, and more.

Types of cloud computing

Here are the three main types of cloud computing services:

IaaS consists of the basic building blocks for cloud IT. IaaS offers you the highest level of management control and flexibility over your IT resources. It is most similar to the present IT resources with which many IT departments and developers are familiar.

Platform as a Service (PaaS)

PaaS removes the requirement for you to manage the underlying infrastructure and allows you to focus on deploying and managing your applications. This assists you to be more efficient as you don’t need to worry about resource procurement, capacity planning, software maintenance, patching, or any other undifferentiated heavy lifting involved in running your application.

Software as a Service (SaaS)

SaaS provides a complete product that is run and managed by the service provider. With a SaaS offering, users don’t have to think about how the underlying infrastructure is managed or how the service is maintained. You are only required to think about how you will utilize that particular software.
