Harry Potter characters in the Qlik Ecosystem

Don’t worry we’re not trying to get you expelled. But we are definitely going to try a clever idea. Harry Potter and its characters are a big part of the lives of people, especially the 90’s kids. So, today we want to pay our kind of homage to the Harry Potter characters and the wizarding world by relating them to the Qlik Sense Ecosystem.

Let’s start with the Chosen One of the entire wizarding world.

Though a Gryffindor by choice, Harry Potter represents what every person wants to be: brave, action-taking, and a true friend. In the Qlik Ecosystem, this can be related to what Active Intelligence stands for, being the true friend that the entire data ecosystem can rely on to make actionable insights. Take Dumbledore’s words for instance:

Active Intelligence unites the most important parts of the data ecosystem like Data Integration & Management, Analysis, Visualization, and Embedded Analytics all under one roof. It is like the “Chosen One” of the entire Data habitat to help eliminate inconsistencies and streamline the flow of real-time data directly from the Data warehouse or Data lake to analysis. Therefore, with Active Intelligence, one can win the war against unstable, historical, and unreliable data maintenance.

She’s the brains behind the entire operation, capable of using a time-turner, taking on multiple challenges at the same time, and being the backbone of everyone surrounding her. Doesn’t this alarmingly sound like the definition of Qlik’s Associative Engine? Associative Engine is a Powerful, logical inference that lets users make on-the-fly calculation that provides a “speed of thought” response. It’s like Harry talking about Hermione:

Like she used logical reasoning to decode which was the right potion to drink (for the Harry Potter book geeks) or how she helped make the polyjuice potion or even having everything necessary in her “purse” during the final phase, with Qlik’s Associative engine as the foundation to every step, both QlikView and Qlik Sense make decisions with a combination of speed and flexibility that easily scales to high numbers of users and large, complex data sets.

He’s the friend of Harry Potter, he’s the one who introduced the entire wizarding world through him, he’s also the reason why Harry came to Gryffindor, and also the one who introduced a family to him, I can still go on with more. But one common theme among most of these is data. How? Ron provided Harry with all the data about the wizarding world, after which made the choice to do whatever he wanted to do with it. In Dumbledore’s words:

|“It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be.”

It is similar to how data is treated, it only matters after the data born (or created) is effectively managed, integrated, cleaned, and then analyzed. For this it is important to be connected with all the data sources – from apps and databases to cloud services, similar to how Ron was the bridge to all the data between the Wizarding world and Harry, essentially connecting him to all the sources. Without Ron bringing the necessary information they would never have won the war.

Dubbed the greatest wizard of all time, Albus Dumbledore is the gatherer of information, the preserver of information (remember the Pensieve?), and the one who schematically found out the information about Voldemort. Look at the infographic below now;

Consolidating all the information from multiple sources ( Voldemort’s childhood and ancestry), schematically storing them in a Data Warehouse (Pensieve), and making sure it is being available to make analytics insights (relaying the information to Harry or Snape). So, yes, Dumbledore in the Qlik ecosystem would be the QDI platform or the Qlik Data Integration platform, capable of the creation of Data Lakes, Data warehouses, and using CDC streaming to ensure real-time data.

Dobby is the most helpful of everyone in the entire Harry Potter universe. He helped HP, even when he technically wasn’t supposed to. He appears whenever HP needs him at the place Harry wants him to. Doesn’t it sound similar to what Embedded Analytics does?
